Downers Grove Natl Bank drive in at Forest & Warren (1970?). Was constructed after demolition of the building that once housed the Don Theater
back entrance to Anderson’s Book Store. The Mochel Hardware warehouse is the building on the right side. 1997
The white building was Dale’s Garage (car repair), just off of Curtiss east of Main. The Masonic Temple building is behind it in this picture taken in 1997

1996 Main Street looking north. To the right is Walgreens at Main & Curtiss, to the right of that was the Downers Grove Travel Agency. It was originally part of Downers Grove National Bank but they later sold it off.
1994 – This was the NE corner at Maple & Main; it was an old gas station (I believe the name was “Barge Way” when it was open).
This building once housed BFC (Beneficial Finance Co) then later was the mortgage department for Downers Grove National Bank (when mortgages were hot before the failures) and now it’s a restaurant (Smokey Tomato). It’s on curtiss Street across from the old DGNational Bank (now Bank Financial)
Looking south over bank parking lot from the bank roof toward Grove Street in 1979. Methodist Church is in distance on right
1979 looking east on Curtiss from the roof of DG National Bank. This was after the heavy snows of January 1979.
These were houses on Grove Street before the Methodist church demolished them for their parking lot expansion. Photo from 1996
This is from the 60’s taken by my cousin, from Burlington looking across tracks toward Forest & Warren. Note Shell station that was on SW corner and old Don Theater sign
1994 corner of Main and Grove. At the time the building housed Intervarsity Press. Previous to that it was a car dealership (Baughman’s Buick, I believe). Cemetary wall to right of building for perspective
Looking west toward Main Street from old parking lot, back of buildings. Note faded “Jewel” sign painted on middle building from when that store occupied that space
looking east toward Main Street. Old Memorial Hall in background, old Fishel Park bandshell to right
